Read the FCDO travel advice for Turkey before you book. The FCDO advises against all travel within 10km of the border with Syria, and your travel insurance could be invalidated if you travel against its advice.
The FCDO says the situation in the Middle East remains unpredictable. Since 8 July 2026, Iran has carried out strikes and retaliatory attacks in a number of places across the region, against US military and civilian infrastructure, and there is a risk of more attacks and unforeseen escalation. Before the ceasefire, Iran said it would target places linked to the US and Israel, including businesses and institutions. British nationals in the region should be prepared for possible flight cancellations, periodic airspace closures and potential travel disruption. The FCDO’s warnings for Turkey have the full notice.
The FCDO says terrorists are likely to try to carry out attacks in Turkey, and that no travel can be guaranteed safe. It also says there is a high risk of wildfires in the summer season, from April to October. The advice changes, so read it again before you fly.
