A direct flight takes about 7 hours from Heathrow or Gatwick to Lagos, and just over 6 hours to Abuja.
With one stop you change planes on the way. Ethiopian Airlines, for example, flies to Lagos and Abuja through Addis Ababa. The journey takes longer, but you can start from UK airports with no direct flight to Nigeria, such as Manchester, and reach cities with no direct flight from the UK.

On a British passport you need a visa to visit Nigeria, and you must get it before you travel. Visa on arrival is no longer available. Apply on the Nigeria Immigration Service site, which offers an e-Visa and a regular visa. If you hold a valid Nigerian residence permit (CERPAC or Green Card), you do not need a visa.
The Nigeria Immigration Service says every traveller must complete a landing card online before arriving and an exit card before leaving. Fill in the landing card before you fly.
You need a yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter Nigeria. Babies aged 8 months or younger and adults aged 61 or older do not. Take the certificate with you.
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after you arrive.

The FCDO advises against all travel to these areas.
It advises against all but essential travel to these areas.
