If there is no direct flight from your UK airport to the place you want, or none on your dates, we can price flights that change planes on the way, which take longer, or a direct flight from another UK airport.
Tell us your dates and we will price each option, so you can weigh the fare against the time.
Your passport must have been issued less than 10 years before the day you arrive, and must be valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen area.
Italy is in the Schengen area. On a British citizen passport you can visit without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period. The 90 days count across all Schengen countries, including any visits in the 180 days before this trip.
The EU’s Entry/Exit System started on 12 October 2025. On a UK passport, you may be asked to register your fingerprints and a photo at the border when you arrive. It is free, there is nothing to do before you travel, and the record lasts 3 years. GOV.UK’s EES guide has the details.
GOV.UK says the EU is expected to start ETIAS, the European Travel Information and Authorisation System, from autumn 2026, and that no action is required from travellers at this point. The EU will announce the start date first, and GOV.UK says any website selling ETIAS now is fraudulent.
You may be asked to show where you are staying, such as a hotel booking or proof of address, your travel insurance, a return or onward ticket, and that you have enough money for your stay.
Read the FCDO travel advice for Italy before you book. The advice changes, so read it again before you fly.
