As a British national you do not legally need a passport to enter Ireland, and you need no visa, under the Common Travel Area. Some airlines and ferry companies ask for a passport as ID, so check with yours before you travel. Irish immigration officers can also ask for proof that you are British.
GOV.UK says Ireland is not in the Schengen area, so the EU’s Entry/Exit System does not apply. ETIAS is for the Schengen area too, so it does not apply to Ireland.
